Mission Statement

Welcome to the Alfred letournea Physical education website. We would like to let you know alittle about our physical education program here at the Alfred Letourneau school. The Letourneau physical education program emphasizes character education. We believe that the physical education program is the best way to teach character education. Below are ten character traits that we work on through out the school year.

The student will develop:

  • An increased level of agility, co-ordination, and physical fitness

  • Teamwork: The ability and willingness to work with in a group for the good of a group.(Leadership and trustworthiness)

  • Cooperation: The ability and willingness to follow group or team strategies.

  • Communication Skills: Knowing when to speak and when to listen in order to help the group achieve its goals.

  • An awareness and appreciation of personla and group safety

  • Honesty: Playing with in the rules for the good of the group and game.

  • Courage: The willingness to try new things to expand ones horizons

  • Goal setting Ability: The willingness to set appropriately challenging goals for ones self and or group.

  • Perserverance: The ability and willingness to continue pressing twoards the goal in the face of normal adversity.

  • Creativity: The ability to come up with solutions to problems and physical challenges.

Standard 1:

Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.


Standard 2:

Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.


Standard 3:

Participates regularly in physical activity.


Standard 4:

Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.


Standard 5:

Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.


Standard 6:

Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.
